The Swimming Pool -
fully tiled in pure white, the overflow type pool with its Granite rock border will beckon you from the time you wake up, until you retire for the night. Relax on the poolside sun lounges with a good book and an ice-cold fresh lime juice. The pool is floodlit, so you can enjoy a dip at night, under a star lit tropical sky. Magic!



                                             
The Temple -

built for the family of the once village Ayurvedic doctor as a quiet place to conduct their devotions in the Buddhist tradition. Today the restored Temple may be used for meditation, contemplation, yoga, or a quiet place to conduct your own devotions. The building features the Singhalese style trelliswork at the front and entered through the original antique double doors.





The Badminton Court -

which can also be used for volleyball, will give you fun and exercise to burn off some of those calories we'll be providing you with. Racquets and shuttlecocks are available for your use. The court is of clay, so lightweight tennis shoes are recommended.







River Cruises -

on the beautiful Bentota River, in a dugout catamaran is a must. You will be gently paddled by a couple of oarsmen. With only the sound of the water swishing by, travel through some wonderful mangrove waterways and be delighted by the passing flora and fauna. Have your camera at the ready! The River is a five-minute walk from "Nisala Arana" and the catamaran is ideal for four people.







Water Sports -

when you feel like something more energetic take advantage of the various water sports on offer. A five-minute drive towards the mouth of the river and you will be able to go skiing, diving, wind surfing, or jet skiing. At night, perhaps take in a dinner on a floating barge.

Ancient Buddhist Temples -
some around two thousand years old, can be found within walking distance from "Nisala Arana". Visit the five temples in the area, some displaying wonderful ancient frescoes, OR, take a twenty-minute drive and visit the Temple referred to locally as the mini Adam's Peak.


Tours -

of interest, near and far, can be arranged for you. A village tour in an open-top Morris Minor however, should definitely be on your agenda.

Shopping -
tours to Colombo with overnight stay if required, can be arranged. There are some wonderful shops that you shouldn't miss. Have dinner in Colombo, stay the night and head back to Bentota the next morning. Walking through the nearby town of Aluthgama will give you the feel of Eastern commerce, but not to be missed is the "Market" on Mondays where you will see produce you didn't know existed.

The Big Hotels -
if you find yourself wanting to be surrounded by lots of people and be entertained by modern music bands, then the Big Hotels are only a ten-minute drive away.

Restaurants -
a wonderful range of food is available in the area, but the experience you must not miss is to eat in a small Restaurant by the beach. Transport can be arranged.

Beach -
the Bentota Beach is only ten-minutes away, where you may have the entire beach to yourself. If you need a change from the pool this makes for a pleasant alternative. Take some sun protector and insect repellant.

Classical Cultural Music -
listening to a Sri Lankan classical music group, in your private garden, under your private stars, sipping your favourite drink, will be an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life.

Mask Dancers and Fire Walkers -
have a long tradition in Sri Lanka. The Mask dancing was performed as a cure for a variety of ailments. Notwithstanding this you will find them to be wonderfully humorous. The Fire Walkers will of course leave you aghast. Once again enjoy this performance privately, in the comfort of your garden.

Walks –
early in the morning, around the village roads, will not only be healthy for you, but also give you an experience which cannot be bought. Watch the village come to life and even chat with the villagers as you stroll along.

Our Staff –
from the Cook, to the House Keeper, to the Gardener, the Pool Attendant and Watchman, a great bunch of guys, who will ensure that your Holiday will be fun and memorable. Your first taste of being pampered will be when you are asked "what time you would like your bed tea”. Be prepared to put on some calories, because you wont be able to resist the mouth-watering curries (vegetables you wont believe, prawns, crab and lobster from the ocean) that our Cook will whip up for you on request.
