Four and a quarter acres of Landscaped Garden
as you enter the red and yellow palm drive-way you will greeted by a
wonderful sense of space, which allows the tropical breeze to have its way with you. The property is also home to Coconut Palms, Travelers Palms, Royal Palms, Mango and other fruit trees, medicine plants, Orchids and more.

Where you enter
the seven-foot high gates are made of old wooden railway sleepers. On the top of the cement gateposts are incorporated the original box and globe ornaments of a 150 years ago. The gates are adorned by a beautifully sculptured cement wall, which has been left in its natural state, so that nature
and the weather can do its own decorating.

The open top contemplation pool adjoining the dining room
surrounded by art and icons of Sri Lanka’s ancient culture, the reflections in the shallow pool will allow you to engage your deepest thoughts. The pool was once the kitchen pit where foodstuffs like fish and chilies were kept to dry under the sun. The pool and the adjoining dining room enjoy lovely airflow and light and are part of ‘The Doctors House’.

The Living Room in The Doctors House
the spacious living room features a high antique ceiling, antique furniture,
cool cement floors and a touch of artistic flair.

The Master Bedroom in The Doctors House
the master bedroom is large, bright and airy. It leads into the living room and also onto the front verandah. The south windows open onto the courtyard and the east window not only greets the morning sun, but also a beautiful bougainvillea plant growing in one of the large garden pots. The antique four poster bed is 6’6” x 7’0” which will allow the tallest of people to stretch out.

The Mango Tree
This Mango tree is the centerpiece of the property. It has seen many Poya days and a number of generations. It provides lovely shade and a stop off, for some of the loveliest of birds - kingfishers, woodpeckers, magpie robins, the wonderfully tame yellow bird and heaps more.

The Verandah of the Coconut Wing
the Architect said NO to cutting the King Coconut tree, then, designed the
bedrooms to accommodate you and the tree. You may very well enjoy your early morning cup of pure Ceylon tea, sitting on the verandah in your planter’s chair, and watch the birds, only feet away from you, as they have their morning honey.

The watering hole
step into the overflow type swimming pool and let all the stress of the modern world, sink to the bottom. The pool if fully tiled and is bordered with slabs of natural granite rock. A smorgasbord of mature tress, surround the pool and will give you a choice of sun or shade in the pool.

The Pavilion in the Garden
you will love the feeling in the Pavilion by the pool. The Pavilion is a special space where you can capture the breeze from the North, South, East or West. Escape from the pool, enjoy your morning and afternoon cup of tea, enjoy a tropical fruit platter, lie on our extra wide couch and read a book, or just gaze at the garden.

The Dining Room in The Doctors House
adjoining the contemplation pool is the dining room in ‘The Doctors House’.
The Antique dining suite will accommodate six diners comfortably.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time here – if you decide to eat in. The mouth watering meals prepared by our resident cook will glue you to your seat.

Pavilion & Pool
The Pavilion lends itself as a stage for the performance of cultural shows, like classical music and mask dances. Ideal on a Poya (full moon) night while you relax in garden furniture with a fresh limejuice or local Arrack in hand. Our resident manager can arrange these events for you. Essential equipment – Camera !
