The 150 year old village
doctor’s House, designed in the Dutch Colonial style,
has been faithfully restored. One or two modern conveniences
have been added (bathroom, kitchen) to which no one has
objected.
The complete house comprises entry verandah, living room,
anteroom, two double bedrooms (master with attic), and dining
room with contemplation pool, kitchen, bathroom, storeroom
and laundry. Entertainment facilities include Satellite
TV, DVD player, Hi Fi system, indoor games and library.
The walls of the house are constructed of huge 15"
thick kabook and mud bricks. Combined with the 14-foot high
ceiling and cement floor, it keeps the house beautifully
cool. Ceiling fans are installed in all rooms to keep the
air circulating. Finished with antique furniture throughout,
completes the colonial ambience. |
